DISPLACEMENT An
astonishing mission by Wellingtoncrab and Amadeus.
Set in Purah’s Lampfire
Hills, explore the plazas surrounding Blackbriar
Estate, the family’s manor compound, as well as the crypts below in search
for lost secrets and hidden relics. Utilize and marvel at The Dark Mod’s
latest 2.14 update, which is better looking than ever. Rarely do we get
something this polished and special without having to pay for it. The
only objective we had was stealing the Horn of the Spoil from Blackbriar Manor, then return to our room. No other
objectives would be given during the mission either, so I was quite free to
do whatever. The west part of Cooper Street, as well as Griffith Park, were
friendly neighborhoods, where guards wouldn’t react to me unless I broke into
buildings or wielded my weapons. Everywhere else I was seen as a hostile. Streets Most
of the town outside the manor was uneventful. The toughest place to ghost was
the Historical Society, especially getting the Etheric Lodestone. I ended up
mantling the antlers dropping from the top railing (left image below). From
here I could open the cage, grab the stone, and close the cage back up again
in quick succession. One of the guards in here left for the balcony, while
the other one had an eye patch. That made this floor easier if I timed them
well. Taking
the Starborn Seed in room III at the inn presented an odd
dilemma. The interesting key unlocked the door (not the windows) from the
outside. The key got stuck in the door and couldn’t be retrieved. However,
the latch on the inside still worked. Supreme requires doors to be relocked,
yet there was no way to leave the room and still lock the door. Technically,
the door was lockable, but not without remaining inside. I could of course
leave through one of the windows, but then it would stay unlocked and I was
left with the same dilemma. Supreme rule #7 says “doors closed and re-locked if
they are re-lockable”. Well, the mission did not allow me to relock
this door and continue playing, which is what made me rule this as ok.
Blackbriar Manor I
entered the manor proper by jumping from the wire on Cooper Street directly
to the nearest fence post (right image above). Since this part of town was
friendly, nobody reacted to any clangs from the jump. This way of entering
circumvented having to open (and close) the gallery portcullis found on the
third floor balcony. I could time the camera and get the horn plus the loot
in here without getting spotted. From
this front balcony I could also approach the front gate area via the guard
tower. This was very important because it provided direct access to the
crypts below via a small well (left image below). There was only one other
way into the crypts, but this was through Curio’s shop, and he only granted
access once I sold him all seven special loot items. Well, one of those
special loot items was found inside the crypt, hence the well was the only
possible entry. I had to time both the pivoting archer and the camera to
first place the rope, then again to run across the path and drop in. Once
inside the crypts, I could not enter the shrine room by way of the stairs. A
stationary, sitting zombie caught me passing the east room; the burning
brazier was too bright. Instead I had to drop from the ledge in the northwest
corner above (right image below). This triggered alerts unless I placed
something to cushion the drop first. There were no loose papers in this
mission, but any of the three books did the trick. The easiest to return was
Histories: Lampfire Hills from the red room. I was
also able to directly mantle up the beam from the foot of the statue to
return. This avoided having to pick up a second rope arrow.
I
used the hidden room on the top floor to access the elevator. The hallway
with the patrolling guard and the camera on the first floor was just too
messy to deal with. In order to leave the level with the Moira shrine, I had
to open the elevator gate. For some reason, I couldn’t mantle back up the
hole on the wall. I didn’t find a way to close the elevator gate again. In
the temple, the final special loot item had to be skipped for Supreme (left
image below). The two burning braziers got put out as I took it. Although
this is a scripted response, it was directly tied to us taking the loot.
Removing light sources is not allowed for that mode, despite being in a room
far away from any enemies. There were two artifacts that couldn’t be obtained
without first taking the Sarcophagus, so those also had to be skipped, for a
total of 500 gold.
Back
in the manor, the only remaining tough pieces of loot were in the kitchen. A
maid and a guard never left this room, and they covered the room well. I had
to wait for them to both have their backs turned and then make a quiet dash
for the ladder (right image above). Once above the halfway point, they
couldn’t see me. I could fortunately slide the ladder back and forth while on
it. I then made a similar dash for the upper walkway and left over the eastern
walls. On my subsequent playthrough, the guard
wasn’t in the kitchen at all, so that made the room much easier. There
are three endings for this mission, two of which are possible for regular
Ghost, and one for Supreme. The speedrun one I
cannot imagine being possible for either, but maybe. Since you have to find
all 7 special loot items in order to achieve the Red Letter ending, that one
isn’t attainable for Supreme. Statistics: Ghost

I did not
relock the door to room III after taking the Starborn
Seed. Although the lock worked, there was no way to lock it and leave the
room to continue the mission. I deemed this as excused for Supreme as per
rule #7. -
Skipped taking
the Sarcophagus in the temple for Supreme, as it removed two light sources.
This also meant I couldn’t take the two artifacts in the same room. All this
amounted to 500 worth of loot. |
